Michael has been studying saxophone for over 15 years and has played countless professional gigs as a bandleader and sideman. He holds a BM in jazz performance from McGill University and has a love for jazz, funk, blues, rock, indie, folk, free improvisation and fusion music. Although known tenor, he also plays alto sax, baritone sax, flute, and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument). As an EWI player for the past 9 years, Michael has been developing a midi synth performance rig allowing him to play any sounds needed by the gig, do live looping, trigger samples, and be a “one-man-band”. As a sideman, his intention is to be in service of the band that hires me, often thinking on his feet to fill out arrangements or take impromptu solos to get out of sticky situations. Michael is also available to record saxophone tracks remotely or in the studio.

“The accolades are still coming in from the outstanding concert the Michael Gorlin Jazz Trio put on here at The Knolls on Sunday.  Our residents are a very seasoned group when it comes to music, and attend concerts on a regular basis all around Westchester County.  They were so impressed with the skill and passion in which you all played, and the absolutely perfect selection of music you made for the audience. You all had such a wonderful sense of presence; it was so impressive. It was a pleasure working with you. Your professionalism and attention to details were wonderful. The residents are already clamoring to have you back! Thank you.”
